How to access the Telecom modem
change Telecom modem password you have to access the administration panel of the device, an operation that can usually be done in two simple steps.
- Open your favorite browser program (eg Chrome, Firefox, Safari).
- Connect to http: // alicegate if you are using an ADSL modem or to http: // modemtelecom if you are using a fiber modem.
In the event that an error message appears instead of the modem management panel (eg "unable to view the page") you must find out what is the IP address of the device and access the management brush through it. Usually the address is 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1 but to have a confirmation of what has just been said you have to go to the network settings of your computer.
If you are using a Windows PC, click on the button Home (l'icona della bandierina collocata nell'angolo in basso a sinistra dello schermo), close Panel of control in the menu that opens and choose the first icon in the search results. The Windows Classic Control Panel will open.
At this point, go on Rete and Internet and then on network and sharing center, select the name of the connection in use from the window that opens, presses on Details and you will see the IP address of the modem next to the entry IPv4 default gateway.
Alternatively, if you prefer, you can open the Command Prompt and give the command ipconfig which will output various information, including the Gateway default, that is the address of the router you need to go and change the device settings.
If you are using a Mac, to find out the address of the modem you have to go to System preference (the gear icon located in the Dock bar) and select the item Network from the window that opens. After that you have to click on Wi-Fi o Ethernet (depending on the type of connection in use on your computer), click the button Advanced and select the tab TCP / IP. The modem's IP address will be listed next to the entry Router.
Well, now that you know your modem's IP address, go back to your browser, type it in the address bar and hit the button Submit sulla tastiera of the computer.
Note: in the unfortunate event that you are unable to see the IP address of the modem or you still encounter difficulties in accessing its administration panel, try to connect the device to the computer via an Ethernet cable and repeat the operation.
Set Telecom modem password
You should now be able to see the administration panel of your modem / router. This means that you are ready to set (or change) the password needed to access it. Let's see immediately how it is done in all the main Telecom modem models currently in circulation.
Telecom Modem ADSL2 + Wi-Fi N Standard, Technicolor and Alice Gate VoIP 2 plus Wi-Fi
If you have a standard or Technicolor ADSL2 + Wi-Fi N modem, or an Alice Gate VoIP 2 plus Wi-Fi, when you first access the device management panel you must leave the password field blank and press the button Log in.
Once logged in, you should be prompted to immediately set a login password for the modem. Then type the keyword you want to use in the fields Set password e Repeat the password and click on Save to save the settings.
If there is no request for setting the password, press the button Access located in the right sidebar, go to the box User Authentication Management and metti il segno di spunta accanto alla voce Activate. At this point, type the password you want to set for the modem in the fields Set password e Repeat the password and click on Save per salvare i Cambiomenti.
The steps we have just seen together also apply if you want to change a previously set password.
Telecom ADSL2 + Wi-Fi N DA2210 modem
The procedure to follow on the DA2 ADSL2210 + Wi-Fi N modem is slightly different. At the first access to the device panel you should be asked to directly set a custom password.
Then enter the keyword you want to use in the fields Set password e Repeat the password and click on the button Configure per salvare i Cambiomenti.
Next, to change the password, select the item Basic Settings from the left sidebar and go up Local Access. Then type the password you want to use in the fields Set password e Repeat the password e pulsing sul pulsating Save to save the settings.
Telecom Fiber Modem
If you have a fiber optic line, for change Telecom modem password you have to follow a procedure practically identical to the one we just saw together for the DA2210. At the first access to the device panel you must configure a custom password by typing it in the fields Set password e Repeat the password e clicking on your button Configure.
Next, to change the password, you need to select the item Basic settings from the left sidebar, you need to go up Local access and you have to type the new keyword you intend to use on the device in the page that opens.
Please note: if you are unable to access the TIM / Telecom router because you have changed the access password to the latter and you do not remember what it is, try to reset the device following the instructions in my tutorial on how to reset Alice modem.
Alice Gate2 plus Wi-Fi
If you have an old router Alice Gate2 plus Wi-Fi (the one with the card, just to be clear), I'm sorry, but you can't set a login password to change the device settings. The only thing you can do is change the Wi-Fi network settings by clicking on the appropriate button located on the home page of the administration panel (but this has nothing to do with the password for accessing the device).
