How to change Postepay password with a new password

Let's start with the simplest motivation. If you want to change Postepay password because you want to make it more complicated than the one currently associated with your account, the first thing you need to do is open the browser you usually use to surf the Internet and click here to connect to the official website of Poste citt脿ne. Once the website is displayed, you will need to log in to the site by entering your credentials (e-mail e Password). To do this you will need to click on the button above named Personal Area then go to fill in the fields displayed on the screen. Then enter your username and password. Once done, then press the button Log in yellow, to log in to the site.



After successfully logging into the area Myposte of the Poste citt脿ne website, click on you don't know and click on the entry Profile from the menu that will appear (gear symbol). On the next screen, select the item Password and Security from the menu at the top.

In the section dedicated to the security of your account, click now on the symbol of pencil corresponding to the item Password. This will open a new screen, through which you can change your password. To do this you will have to enter your old password, type the new one and then enter it again to confirm it.

But I want to give you a quick tip: as you can read on the Poste citt脿ne website, there are some guidelines to keep in mind to ensure the security of your account.



An efficient password must in fact follow some precise rules:

  • The password must be between 8 and 16 characters long
  • The password must contain at least one uppercase and one lowercase letter
  • The password must contain at least one number
  • The password must not contain more than two consecutive identical characters
  • The password must not contain any special characters

If you follow these rules, in addition to those indicated in my guide for creating a secure password, you will see that you will no longer have problems.

Also take into account the fact that, after changing the password of your Postepay card, in order to access all the services of Poste citt脿ne regarding your rechargeable card, from now on you will have to use the new password you have chosen. The one previously in use will in fact be canceled.

How to change Postepay password in case of forgotten password

Alternatively, as mentioned in the introduction of this guide, you may need to change your Postepay password because you no longer remember the password associated with your account and therefore you no longer have the possibility to access it. If this is the reason that pushes you to change your PostePay password, don't worry, you can do it in an equally simple way.

To change the PostePay password, in case of forgotten password, the first thing you need to do is click here to connect to the official Postepay website. Once the website is displayed, click on the button Personal Area located at the top right. Instead of logging in, using the previously indicated procedure, press the button now Forgot your password or username? located under the form dedicated to entering data for access to the Poste citt脿ne website.


In the new web page that will open, choose the option that best suits your needs to recover the password of your Postepay. The available options are Password recovery via SMSPassword recovery through the call center (for private users) e Password recovery via SMS (for business user)


If you choose the option Password recovery via SMS, you will have to indicate, using the drop-down menu present, if you wish to recover yours username or the Password. If you wish to recover the username you will be asked to type your tax code in the appropriate text field and then press the Captcha button corresponding to the wording I am not a Robot. Premendo sul pulsating Send SMS a text message will be sent to the mobile number you indicated when registering on the Poste citt脿ne website. The SMS received contains a username valid only for the first access to the online personal area to manage your Postepay card. Once logged in to the Postepay portal, you will need to change the password received via SMS, following the procedure I indicated at the beginning of the guide.

If you wish to recover the Password you will have to fill in the appropriate box again. This time, however, you will have to type in your username and social security number and then press the Captcha button corresponding to the wording I am not a Robot. Finally pressing the button Send SMS a text message will be sent to the mobile number you indicated when registering on the Poste citt脿ne website. The SMS received contains a password that will be valid only for the first access to the personal online area, to manage your Postepay card. Once logged in to the Postepay portal, you will need to change the password received via SMS, following the same procedure that I indicated at the beginning of the guide.


If you choose the option instead Password recovery through the call center (private users) you will have to independently make a phone call to the toll-free number 803.160.

Be careful though; if you want to call via your mobile, the call center number is different. It will in fact be the paid number 199.100.160 that you will need to use, get in touch with the Poste Citt脿ne call center. I would also like to inform you that the cost of the call is linked to the telephone operator you use. In general, however, according to what is indicated by the official website of Poste citt脿ne, the cost of the telephone call to the toll number of the call center is equal to a maximum of 0,60 euros per minute plus 0,15 euros per answer.


Once the phone call has started, follow the instructions of the voice guide to change the password. In order to finalize the password change operation, I remind you that you will need to provide, in addition to your personal data, also the tax code. Also in this case, an SMS will be sent to the mobile number indicated during registration with a temporary password that you can change at the first access. Keep in mind that both numbers of the Poste Citt脿ne call center that I have indicated to you are active and functioning only and exclusively from Monday to Saturday from 8.00 to 20.00.

If instead you are a business user, I imagine you have chosen the operation Recupero password via SMS (Business users). In this case, to recover your Postepay password you will have to go to the following link and enter, in the appropriate text field, your client code. This is a number on the last page of registration on the poste.it site. On the password recovery page you will also need to enter the control code that you will see. To confirm your intentions to recover the Postepay password, then click on the button Continue located at the bottom right and wait for the SMS to be received on the mobile number you indicated when registering on the Poste citt脿ne website. The SMS received contains a new password valid only for the first access to the personal online area to manage your Postepay card. Once logged in to the Postepay portal you will then have to change the password received via SMS, always following the procedure I indicated at the beginning of the guide. Also keep in mind that the Password recovery for business user via SMS can be done only and exclusively by the System Administrator user.
